Lonnie Arroyo is a graduate Holy Cross High School and attended Louisiana Tech University on a Track and Field athletic scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fitness and Wellness while at Tech. Lonnie has been a certified personal trainer since 2000. He is certified through NESTA (National Exercise and Sports Trainer Association) and began personal training at the NOAC in 2001. He received a certification from NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) as a Corrective Exercise Specialist as well as a certification in FMS (Functional Movement Specialist) to screen, assess, rate and rank movement to prevent injury. Lonnie places great value on continuing his education in order to stay on top of the most advanced and most effective training strategies. Donny is a 1999 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a BS in Fitness & Wellness/Pre Physical Therapy. As a Lifetime Certified Trainer through NESTA, he has flourished at the NOAC for over 16 years while displaying his proficiency in:

Joseph Everett is a native New Orleanian and has been a personal trainer at the New Orleans Athletic Club for over 21 years. Joseph’s family operated a health food store for over 30 years, which exposed him to the fitness industry at a very young age. Joseph acquired several certifications: The American Council on Exercise (ACE), The Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFFA) and National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA). Joseph possesses a vast knowledge of physiology of the human body and in addition to personal training has aided many clients in physical rehabilitation. Tessa Izdepski graduated from LSU in 2006 with a degree in Kinesiology, focusing on Human Movement. She has been a personal trainer ever since. Her studies included coursework in anatomy, physiology, neurology, and exercise sciences, amongst other related topics. She is also a lifetime athlete, playing soccer and running track and cross country throughout her youth and young adulthood. The combination of her athletic experience and educational background make a great platform for an excellent, well rounded personal trainer. Her personal training style focuses on:
-movement and full body exercises
-mixes of plyometrics, resistance training, cardio, and balance and agility in her routines to maximize physical gains

Greg Jennings began his swimming career teaching children 3–18 years old in Baton Rouge. Greg taught the basics of freestyle and backstroke while soothing fears and making swimming enjoyable and safe. Over the years he began teaching adults of all ages, helping them gain control and comfort in the new environment of the pool. During this time he joined the competitive coaching staff, teaching even the most experienced children and adults the fine points of swimming. Greg would always make it a point to instill the joy that comes from incorporating swimming into a healthy and active lifestyle. If you are someone who:

Danny Navar began working as a personal trainer in the spring of 2007after he received his master’s degree in neuroscience at LSU Health Sciences Center. His thesis focused on understanding the neural mechanisms associated with meal termination. After receiving his personal trainer certification, he began training individual and group clients at Lakeway Athletic Club and New Orleans Athletic Club. Currently he works primarily out of New Orleans Athletic Club where he trains clients as well as himself. Danny emphasizes a complete, yet individualized fitness routine for his clients and himself by:
-focusing on cardiovascular and muscular fitness, flexibility, balance and coordination, and proper body composition
-basic goals for most include increased functionality, diet awareness, and becoming a more active person.
His own fitness goals include building strength and power for sports, maximizing flexibility, conditioning for sports, maintaining proper weight and body composition, and improving quickness and agility. Danny has been resistance training for most his life and has competitive experience in Olympic and power lifting. He participated in wrestling and football in high school and still enjoys competitive and recreational sports. Tim Good is a NASAM certified trainer and a long time member of the NOAC. Tim has acquired over twenty years of personal weightlifting experience that translates his successes and passion for the sport into personalized training programs to answer each clients needs and goals. Jennifer became interested in Pilates while taking a program developed by the NYC Ballet Company in 1994. The program emphasized length and strength within the physical body and she found many common elements with her yoga discipline. She began to immerse herself in yoga and traveled to Asia where she spent time in India, Thailand and Vietnam. In 2001 Jennifer undertook a year long Iyengar teacher training program and began to teach in her local community.In 2004, she became certified by the Physical Mind Institute in Pilates Mat and in Pilates Standing Exercises. In the summer of 2005, she completed a certification in Pilates Equipment. She had planned to start teaching in the fall of 2005 when Katrina hit New Orleans, closing the NOAC for one year. Jennifer taught locally and then furthered her Pilates training in the summer of 2006 and again in 2007 with Ellie Herman in San Francisco. She set up a private Pilates studio at the NOAC in the Fall of 2006 and has been teaching mat classes and private clients. She is certified on the all equipment through the Physical Mind Institute based in NYC. In Pilates she has been able to help clients strengthen their:
-deep abdominal muscles for increased balance
-overall body conditioning

Matthew Sabella started weight training about nine years ago. As he learned more about exercise and weightlifting, he also became interested in the health and fitness industry. Eventually he received a job at the Lakeway Athletic Club as a personal trainer and aquatics instructor. He received his first personal training certification through the International Alliance in April of 2004. He is also certified in personal training through AFAA as well as sports nutrition, aqua aerobics and personal training through the Exercise Science Alliance.
Matthew began working at the East Jefferson YMCA in October 2005 as a Personal Trainer and Floor Manager. In 2009, he competed in hid first two body building shows and placed fourth out of seven contestants in both shows. Matthew feels very fortunate to have worked with some of the most respected people in our area such as Buford Jordan, Troy Bourgeois and Mackie Schilstone. By taking aspects of each of their particular styles of training, Matthew feels that he was able to develop his own unique style. His specialties include:

Michael Cochran is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans and holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. His experience as a former U.S. Marine and police officer has instilled great work ethic and commitment to any task he pursues. Michael’s first experience of the N.O.A.C. was at the age of 16 when his father took him to start boxing. His love of the sport started from the first time he stepped into the ring, and continues as he trains in the gym where it all began. Michael is a N.E.S.T.A. (National Exercise Sports Trainer Association) certified Personal Trainer with over 15 years of Boxing and Conditioning experience which includes Competition and Training. Michael believes that:
-Boxing provides an outlet that is unparalleled by other routines.
-The combination of Boxing Instruction and Intense Dynamic Cardiovascular Routines, results in true Functional Fitness.
-It also instills confidence that can be used both inside and outside the ring.

Shanda Domango trained in Dance, Fitness, Nutrition, and has established and choreographed the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s (ULL) first Hip Hop dance team – Infinity. While at ULL, Shanda taught Hip Hop at P.J.’s Dance Art School and choreographed and danced for recording artists such as Wentrell Thomas, New Cupid (of the Cupid Shuffle), and Dawn Richard of Danity Kane (formerly Diddy Dirty Money). While in Los Angeles, Shanda attained a Master’s in Arts Management from Claremont Graduate University and her Personal Training Certification with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Merging her love for dance and fitness, Shanda traveled as one of the leading performers and choreographers of SWEET MANGO and toured her renowned Hip Hop Cardio classes around the country. Shanda has worked with clients across the country from Los Angeles to New Orleans in achieving:

Born and raised in New Orleans, MJ was an avid athlete mainly focusing on year round basketball, in leagues such as AAU, LHSAA, and NORD. MJ graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Sports Administration. In that time, MJ worked for the LSU Track and Field team and interned with the Lafayette Wildcatters of the Southern Indoor Football League. After graduating, MJ continued to work in sports at Tulane University, San Jose State University and lastly with the New Orleans Pelicans. MJ earned his personal trainer certification from the American Fitness Institute. MJ is also CPR and AED certified as well as being DotFit Certified and Certified Senior Fitness Specialist through the National Council of Certified Personal Trainers. MJ specializes in:

-Sports Specific Training.
He is currently pursuing certifications as a weight management specialist. In his free time, MJ continues to train and race in events, most recently being the Crescent City Classic and Spartan Race. When MJ graduated college he was 298lbs, at that moment he knew it was time for a change. He educated himself on fitness and nutrition and with hard work and dedication loss 50lbs within one year after graduating. With his new weight loss he felt better, was more energized and confident. Brandon, or Chaps as he likes to go by, is a Navy veteran (’07-11) who graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a BS in Fitness and Human Performance. Chaps has 7 years of experience as a collegiate track coach at SLU & NSU, and as such, has shown proficiencies in:
- Weight loss, muscular gains, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, strength training, rehabilitation, HIIT, Tabata, and sport performance training.
Chaps has coached 11 school record holders at SLU and has been published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning for original research. He also has experience meeting a wide range of client needs having worked with an array of people from competitive athletes to clients with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Danielle graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in business management and marketing. While at Southeastern on a full scholarship for dance and a member of the SELU Lionettes dance team, Danielle spent her time working at Chuck’s total Hammond Fitness and as a journeyman for a local private investigative business. After her tenure at Chuck’s she really discovered her love for fitness.
Danielle went on to get her first group exercise certification in Pilates and Yoga in 2004. In 2005 Danielle went back to college and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Photojournalism and Science. Learning and education has always been a favorable adventure for her.
In 2006 Danielle became a member of ISSA and obtained her first Personal training license. It is then her career took off. She became specialized in FNS (Food nutrition specialist,N.A.S.M), CES (Corrective exercise specialist,N.A.S.M), Functional & Flexibility Training (ACE). She has maintained her CPT through N.A.S.M since. She went on to work at Genonive inc. based out of Harahan in 2009, where her role was to scientifically design a nutritional plan for clients based off of their DNA. Their she worked with NOLA’s very own sports caster Christian Garic, where she helped him reach a healthy goal weight while reducing fat and maintaining muscle. His plan was one that was intricate due to his busy and traveling lifestyle. She achieved many awards and was asked to speak at highly recognized events such as IHRSA and Europa conventions.
In 2013 she was hired on by the renowned Gold’s Gym as a Fitness Director. She was awarded 2 years in a row the #1 Personal Trainer in the Southeast Regions of Gold’s district.

Always motivated, Jonathan began a study of fitness and exercise that continues today.
Having lost over 150 pounds and encouraged by his father’s own military history, Jonathan joined the United States Army Reserve (1986). He completed the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Course (300-91A10) at the Academy of Health Sciences at Fort Sam Houston,Texas (1987). Following this training, he was assigned to the 854th Combat Engineering Battalion, Stewart Air Force Base, Newburgh in Upstate New York. Jonathan assisted in conducting fitness testing and physical training for the battalion.
Honorably discharged from service in 1990, Jonathan became one of the first ACE Certified Personal Trainers in 1992.
In 1993, Jonthan received a license in Massage Therapy from the prestigious Swedish Institute in New York City, the oldest massage school in the United States and a part of the Educational Department of the University Of The State Of New York.
Jonathan has owned and operated independent personal training companies in New York and Florida. He has worked closely with leaders in the fitness industry such as Steve Kass, CEO of American Leisure Corporation, Phil Kaplan of P.A. Kaplan and Associates and R.J. Rice of French Riviera Health and Fitness/Parks Health and Fitness, divisions of Rice Industries. He now joins the New Orleans Athletic Club, the oldest operating health club in the United States.
